Belarusian Companies Currency Proceeds Reduced 39.1%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2009. Belarusian companies’ foreign currency proceeds decreased 39.1% on the year in January-September 2009 to USD 18.103 billion, an official with the National Bank of Belarus (NBB)’s information department told.
Of the total amount, commodity export proceeds fell 41.8% on the year in January-September to USD 15.491 billion, services export proceeds went down 11.7% to USD 2.392 billion, proceeds from domestic trade for foreign exchange plummeted 60.5% to USD 157.446 million. Other proceeds increased 30% to USD 61.884 million.
The share of commodity export proceeds stood at 85.6% of the total foreign proceeds as of October 1, 2009, down 3.9 percentage points year-on-year, service export proceeds at 13.2%, up 4.1 percentage points.
Proceeds from domestic trade for foreign exchange increased accounted for 0.9%, down 0.4 of a percentage point. The share of other proceeds was at 0.3%, up from 0.1% in January-September 2008.
Corporate foreign currency proceeds from the CIS fell 43.6% on the year in January-September to USD 6.403 billion, including proceeds from Russia at USD 5.313 billion, down 42.3% on the year.
Belarus companies’ currency proceeds from non-CIS countries went down 36.4% on the year in the period to USD 11.7 billion.
In total currency proceeds, the share of the U.S. dollar increased 6.1 percentage points from October 1, 2008 to 37.4% as of October 1, 2009, the share of the Russian ruble decreased 2.9 percentage points to 26.2%, the share of the euro went down 3.5 percentage points to 34.8%, the share of the Belarusian ruble was at 0.8%, up from 0.4%, and the share of other currencies was at 0.8%, down from 0.9%.
In 2008, currency proceeds of Belarusian companies increased 36.3% to USD 37.69 billion.
