OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2009. The Board of Directors of Svyazinvest (hereinafter, “the Company”) at its October 27 meeting announced a set of key measures for the reorganization of the Group’s companies, which was approved by the Board of Directors of the company.  Among other things, the decision was adopted to set up the Steering Committee for the Reorganization of Svyazinvest.  This committee will be in charge of coordinating the activities of all divisions of the company and the Group of companies in line with this goal. 

By decision of the board, the director general of Svyazinvest Evgeny Yurchenko was appointed as head of the Management Committee. 

As reported earlier, the Board of Directors of Svyazinvest approved on October 20 a plan for the reorganization of the Svyazinvest Group of companies.  The reorganization will take the form of a merger between regional telecom operators (RTOs) and Rostelecom.  As a result, an integrated and competitive company will be able to provide the full range of telecom services and datacom solutions all across Russia.

One of the main tasks assigned to the Steering Committee in the near future will be to work out the organizational structure of the new company.  The committee will be in charge of selecting executives for the new company, as well as other day-to-day issues associated with the merger between RTOs and Rostelecom. 

At the meeting it was also decided to adopt the decision to create, along with the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation a working group which would be able to coordinate the collaboration between the two organizations in developing electronic infrastructure for the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation.
