OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2009. The delegation of Karelia has returned to Petrozavodsk from Kazan where it participated in the First National Forum: Russia the Sports Power held on October 22-25. Karelia at the Forum was represented by delegation headed by Valery Bojnich, the Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia. The delegation included Maxim Antipov, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Karelia on Physical Training and Sports, Tamara Trubanovskaya, Deputy Director of Central Children's Sports School of Olympic reserve, Olga Vesnina, Director of Specialized Children's Sports School of Olympic reserve N1, Alexander Voronov, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Training of Karelian State Pedagogical Academy, Sergey Vainik, director of Pryazha Children's Sports School. At the briefing in the Government of republic Maxim Antipov and Tamara Trubanovskaya have told the journalists the details of this representative action.

The Annual All-Russia sports forum was founded by the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to establish in Russia the world's largest forums to discuss importance of physical training and sports in life of the society. Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, Alexander Zhukov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Andrey Fursenko, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Rashid Nurgaliyev, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Mutko, Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, Leonid Tyagachev, President of the Russian Olympic Committee, heads of some regions of the country have taken part in work of the first Forum in Kazan. There have been more than 3,5 thousand participants of the Forum including 11 heads of international sports federations, about 100 representatives of the scientific schools, famous sportsmen.

Within the scope of the Forum there has been held a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport, Excellence in Sports, Preparation and Organisation of the 2014 Sochi XXII Winter Olympics and XI Paralympics and the XXVII World University Games in 2013 in Kazan. The main issue the meeting of the Council was the state support of sports activities of children and young people. Those days Kazan presented expositions Modern sports. Innovations and prospects, International Olympic Movement, photoexposition Russia the Sports Power, there have been held seminars and round table discussions. The All-Russia seminar of heads of enforcement authorities in the sphere of physical training and sports of regions of Russia also took place there.

As Maxim Antipov has told, topics debated at the Forum included such tasks important for the country as perfection of the sports basis and financing of construction of new objects, work of sports clinics and anti-doping policy, the necessity of medical support of sports competitions and monitoring of physical condition of sportsmen.

Tamara Trubanovskaya, Deputy Director of Central Children's and Youth Sports School of Olympic reserve, has paid attention of journalists to another issue discussed at the Forum, namely the general status of numerous children's sports schools functioning today in Russia and schools of Olympic reserve. In the opinion of participants of the Forum, precise rules of work of these sports institutions could improve their financing, organizational work, and quality of training of sportsmen. As she said, in the near future the All-Russia competition of the best coaches of the country will continue, and there will be established the competition of the best lessons of physical training. It is necessary to return and to carrying out of intraschool sports competitions, taking sports qualifying standard tests, organization of competitions between enterprises.

Within the scope of the Forum it became possible to receive confirmation of readiness of the federal authority to support development sports infrastructure in regions. Next year, Chairman of the State Committee on Physical Training and Sports has told, construction of Kurgan ski complex should come to the end. Another prospect is construction of five new athletic fields in regions of Kareliam which is being negotiaied. It will become possible within the scope of programs on development of physical culture and sports and propagation of healthy lifestyle implemented in the country and in the republic. According to Maxim Antipov, by 2020 measures undertaken by the Government of the country should allow to increase the number of Russians actively going in for sports from 15 to 40 percent.
