OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2009. ASTARTA's regional subsidiaries finished winter sowing campaign for 2010 harvest on the area of 37.5 thousand ha or 8% more than in the previous year. Winter wheat was sowed on the area of 33 thousand ha, winter barley on the area of 3 thousand ha. Under the program of growing of own seeds, ASTARTA sowed more than 30% of total area by seeds of own production.

Moreover, the Group's regional subsidiaries almost finished harvesting of technical crops. Sunflower has been already harvested on the area of 11.7 thousand ha with an average yield of 2.7 tons per ha and soybeans on the area of 14.8 thousand ha with an average yield of 1.6 tons per ha. Harvesting of corn has been completed by 34% from the total on the area of 4.6 thousand ha with an average yield of 7.3 tons per ha. It should be noted that some Group's regional subsidiaries in Poltava region harvested sunflower with an average yield of 2.9 tons per ha, soybeans - 1.9 tons per ha, and corn - 8.0 tons per ha.
