Baltic Transit Service Joins CER
OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2009. In Gdansk, Poland took place the meeting of the General Assembly of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) during which Latvian freight transport company Baltijas Tranzita Serviss (BTS) was welcomed as a member of the community, reported the press-centre of LDz.
Biruta Sakse, Head of Foreign Affairs Division of LDz told that joining of BTS in this organization will not influence performance of LDz, but it is very good that BTS follows the example of its Latvian colleagues – the company Baltijas Ekspresis (Baltic Express), which joined CER already several years ago.
During the meeting of the General Assembly Johannes Ludewig was re-elected CER Executive Director for the next term. He will remain in this position until the end of 2011. J.Ludewig was first elected Executive Director of CER in 2002. He is a former CEO of Deutsche Bahn AG (1997-1999), and he has worked in the German Ministry for Economics and in the office of the German chancellor.
