Yandex Plays Russian Music
OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2009. Yandex now features music by Russian artists. Those looking for songs in Russian can now listen to these songs in full length, good quality and free of change, right on the top of the Yandex search results.
The number of Russian songs available for listening on Yandex’s search results page totals to about 10,000 including music provided by Russia’s leading copyright holders (such as The First Music Publisher, Monolit, Recording Company “Nikitin” and Megaline). The launch of Russian compositions on Yandex is part of the program started in August 2009 aimed at providing web users with free legal music.
Currently, Yandex search allows to find and listen to both Russian and foreign music. The company partners with the music industry heavyweights (including Universal, EMI and Warner Music) and encourages other copyright-holding companies to participate in this project.
"Every day, the Yandex search engine receives about one million requests for song titles. About 60% of these requests are specifically about the Russian numbers,” says Denis Tanaev, Project Manager. “Now, we have music to cater for all tastes".
