Commercial Seaport of Sochi Reconstruction Estimated RUR 13 bln
OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2009. Commercial Seaport of Sochi (SMTP) reconstruction coast may amount to about RUR 13 billion. Works commencement is planned for end 2009 – beginning 2010, informed Interfax with reference to Vladimir Derkunov, General Director of the port.
‘Preliminary investment into the project will amount to about RUR9 billion (Federal funds) and about RUR4.48 billion (SMTP investment),’ he mentioned.
It is planned to fit out moorages for heavy-tonnage vessels, construct a congress-center, a hotel and create berth infrastructure at the expense of the Federal funds.
As per Derkunov, it it planned to fully complete seaport reconstruction by April, 2013.
Reconstruction of the resort port sea-gates will require construction of a deep-water harbour in the Sochi river estuary that would be able to accept vessels of any class and water displacement The dimensions of the existing water area constructed in 30-50-s previous century will not allow motor vessels over that are over 300 meters long approach the moorage. The port territory is expected to increase from 20.5 ha to 65 ha after reconstruction. Inner harbour will be become a marine for 300 yachts upon reconstruction.
It is also planned to construct a passenger ship terminal building in the port’s territory where all the necessary services and departments will be located including customs and boarder control.
Rostekhnadzor approved the design of the Sochi port reconstruction with its coastal infrastructure for creation of an international center of passenger and cruise transportation.
