In cooperation with RSCC, Intersputnik has successfully upgraded the Caribe Satellite Communications Center, Cuba, following the resolutions of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation. Specifically, Intersputnik and RSCC repaired and restored the TNA-57 antenna system at the Caribe teleport. Having examined the antenna system, Intersputnik's experts found serious defects of reflector segments and the counter-reflector support structure. Also, the antenna control system needed significant repairs. Despite the complexity of these tasks, all repairs and restoration were performed strictly on schedule. ETECSA (Cuba) expressed appreciation to Intersputnik for high-quality retrofitting. Placed in service over 30 years ago, the TNA-57 antenna system became fully operable again as proven by subsequent tests.
This project will help establish new trunk links between Moscow and Havana and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
