OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2009. The President paid particular attention to state involvement in the economy: support for companies, effectiveness of budget spending, and the future of state corporations.

Mr Medvedev said that capital formed in Russia should in large measure be invested at home. The President also noted that the heads of most Russian companies underestimate the benefits of using new advanced technology and said that the state, as owner of the country’s natural resources, has the right to expect the introduction and use of the most advanced technology that meets the highest standards of effectiveness, labour productivity and environmental safety.

More than 30 big business representatives took part in the meeting, including LUKOIL CEO Vagit Alekperov, Rosneft CEO Sergei Bogdanchikov, Chairman of Renova Group Supervisory Committee Viktor Vekselberg, Head of Base Element and RUSAL Oleg Deripaska, Director of AFK Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov, Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Alexei Miller, President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin and others.

Also taking part in the meeting were Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin, his first deputy, Vladislav Surkov, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, Presidential Aide Arkady Dvorkovich, and Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina.
