OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2009. An additional office of the Irkutsk branch of Ingosstrakh IJSC in Bratsk prevented fraud with motor hull insurance to the amount of RUB 265k.  An insured person turned to the Claim Settlement Department of the additional office and notified about the damage done to his TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 200 (manufactured in 2008) when he ran into the metal support in Tulun, Irkutsk region.

During the internal investigation, the employees of Ingosstrakh found out that the car had been damaged in a totally different situation, at a different time and even in a different city. The driver (the insured person) was in a state of intoxication at the time of the accident.   

The insured person was aware of the fact that if an accident takes place when the driver is intoxicated this is a basis to deny the claim, therefore when he turned to the traffic inspection and the insurance company he intentionally changed the date and the circumstances of the event. 

After a comprehensive investigation, the employees of the Information Analysis and Protection Department of Ingosstrakh IJSC were able to identify the actual circumstances of the accident.

Confronted with the evidence, the owner of TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 200 admitted his fault, repented and signed a voluntary waiver of insurance compensation and withdrew his claim. 

Ingosstrakh IJSC undertakes activities to combat fraud on a regular basis. The Company introduced an electronic system that analyses risks and defines whether a specific accident can be the case of fraud. Such cases are then efficiently processed to identify fraud without transferring expenses to bona fide clients.
