OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2009. In the beginning of October the scheduled inspection of the aerodrome equipment and search-and-rescue drills took place at Pulkovo Airport. The activities took place on the threshold of the transition to the autumn-winter navigation period that will start in the end of October.

Aerodrome department reported on the inspection of 43 snowploughs used for the upkeep of the airfield and runways. The aerodrome column includes snowploughs, auger wheel machines, machines for treatment of the airfield with dry and liquid chemicals, motor graders and tractors.

Search-and-rescue drills were held in several steps from the 6th to the 9th of October. Rescuers worked through the reaction skills during the force majeueres in the airport and aircrafts.  On the audit results the expert commission admitted the high level of readiness of Pulkovo Airport for the autumn-winter navigation period 2009-2010.

On the 12th of October in spite of the snowfall Pulkovo Airport worked in the customary regime. Airport equipment cleaned the second runway from snow. Weather conditions had no influence on the airport flight regularity.
