TransContainer and Belarusian Railways Sign Agreement on Information
OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2009. TransContainer and Belarusian Railways have signed an agreement on the exchange of data when organizing the transportation of containerized freight across the Brest-Terespol border crossing. The agreement was signed at the 18th Plenary Meeting of the International Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation, held in Munich, Germany.
Under the Agreement, TransContainer will provide Belarusian Railways with preliminary information (in electronic form) regarding bills of lading and other shipping documents received, under the project “Volkswagen Group Rus,” from consignors based in a number of European countries. This will make it possible to shorten by seven hours the time spent on processing bills of lading and other shipping documents at the Brest railway station; the time saving is due to speedy registration of bills of lading in Belarusian Railways’ automated systems, and also to the newly created electronic versions of transit Customs declarations used for preliminary coordination of Customs procedures.
Information will be transmitted from a computer-aided system, namely, Portal TransContainer, directly to Belarusian Railways’ computer-aided system. Portal TransContainer is to be used in the future in other international projects as well.
