UNDP Tests Almaty Students Knowledge in Electoral Law
OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2009. Interactive seminar on the electoral law for the students of Almaty universities was held in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for students of Kazakh National University, Kazakh State Pedagogical University, Turan University and Kunayev University.
The aim of the seminar was active involvement of students in the socio-political processes taking place in the country, through the training in the electoral law. Debates, interactive games, polls and brainstorming exercises were used in the course of the seminar. The evaluation board comprised of Academic G Sapargaliyev, honored lawyer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, R. Kazkenov, UNDP Governance and Local Development Unit Program Associate, A. Salimgerey, the President of the Kazakhstan Association of International Law.
The participants of the seminar were awarded certificates and distinguished teams earned prizes. Yekaterina Khamidullina, second year Law student from Kazakh State National University, was acknowledged as the seminar participant that demonstrated the outstanding leadership skills and extensive knowledge of electoral law. This seminar, in her opinion, ?contributed a lot to deepen the knowledge of the electoral law of all participants”.
The event was organized by Kazakhstan Association of International Law with support from the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the joint project, funded by the British Embassy and the United Nations Development Program in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan Association of International Law is one of the NGOs that has received grant from the British Embassy and UNDP to increase the electoral activity of young citizens of Kazakhstan.
