OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2009. The Fishing Industry of Turkmenistan-2009 International Exhibition closed in the Turkmen capital. Within the framework of the specialized forum the international scientific conference on the issues of conservation and efficient use of biological resources of the Caspian Sea was arranged at the Exposition Center.

Again Ashgabat provided an open platform for discussing a wide range of the issues of mutually advantageous cooperation in the very promising sectors of the national economy fields such as fishing industry that met the tasks and goals of Turkmenistan’s strategy of fundamental reforms including diversification of the national economy. The potential and achievements of the industry, introduction of innovative technologies in production process, development of processing industry and other important issues were the focus of discussion for the Turkmen specialists and their foreign colleagues.

The Ashgabat forum, which was conducted for the second time, brought together the participants representing the leading companies from different countries worldwide. The fact that many forum participants had arrived in the Turkmen capital for the second time vividly illustrated the foreign partners’ willingness to develop cooperation with Turkmenistan in this sector. The important fields of cooperation included personnel training lists, commercial fishery and fishing industry, water and fish transport, fish production lines, the environment of fish ponds, etc.

The Protection and Efficient Use of Marine Bioresources of the Caspian Sea International Conference aroused keen interest of the scientific circles. As is known, Turkmenistan – an active participant of the international dialogue on conservation of biodiversity of the unique natural water reservoir takes a constructive approach to this crucial issue and advocates development of fruitful mutually advantageous cooperation. The forum provided an opportunity to learn about the best international practice of conservation and efficient use of biological resources through applying up-to-date technologies. Much attention was paid to such criteria as ecological safety, cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency.

The forum participants received the diplomas and certificates during the ceremony of closing the forum organized by the State Committee of Fishing Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
