OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2009. ISS-20 crew which landed in Kazakhstan early in the morning on Oct. 11 brought the results of scientific experiments, space jinseng and "organs" of Matreshka- passive detectors used to study space radiation.

Russian program of the ISS-20 expedition included 42 different experiments. 5 of them were completely new. The cosmonauts also brought strains of jinseng and yew, which spent 2 months on-board the ISS. For the yew cells it was the second mission, for the jinseng it was the thirs space flight. Jinseng cells become 20-30 percents more productive compare to its ground analogue. The experiment was retried in order to obtain more effective cell line to be used further for producing medicines against many illnesses, including cancer.
