OREANDA-NEWS. October 7, 2009. Director General of Energoatom Concern OJSC Sergey Obozov and Chairman of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) Laurent Stricker met Oct 5 2009 to discuss the prospects of cooperation.

Stricker introduced the newly appointed managing director of WANO George Felgate, presented WANO’s strategy for the current stage of the global nuclear renaissance and specified the role of Energoatom Concern as one of the biggest nuclear operators in the world.

Stricker said that it was necessary not only to safely operate existing nuclear power plants but also to develop a consolidated system for ensuring the compliance of new reactors with the international safety standards. Energoatom Concern is one of the key players in this field.

In his turn, Obozov confirmed the Concern’s adherence to WANO’s principles and commitment to further take part in WANO’s projects.
