Over the week of September 28 – October 2, 2009, the RTS Index went down by 0.04% to reach 1,224.80 points (1,225.29 points as of September 25, 2009). Most of the negative impact on the Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (minus 3.75 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) (minus 2.15 points), and ordinary shares of "FGC UES", JSC (FEES) (minus 1.69 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase closing at 1,217.57 points (2.43% up against 1,188.64 points as of September 25, 2009). Last week key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a multidirectional trend. The largest decline was reported by the telecom sector, with the RTS Index – Telecom going down by 0.58%. The RTS Index – Oil & Gas lost 0.21%. The largest growth was demonstrated by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Index – Consumer & Retail gaining 2.06%.

For the last week the US dollar lost 0.02% against the ruble to reach 30.06 rubles per US dollar (30.07 as of September 25, 2009).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week September 28 – October 2, 2009 equaled USD10.5 billion (316.8 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD9,014.27 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD769.316 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD418.558 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD122.841 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 50.74%, 31.70% and 8.10% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of IDGC of Northern Caucasus, JSC (MRKK) that went up by 67.88% to USD2.3 followed by ordinary shares of Southern Kuzbass Coal Company ОАО (UKUZ) – by 57.14% to USD44.0 and ordinary shares of IDGC of North-West (MRKZ) that went up by 37.25% to reach USD0.007.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "CZP" (CHZN) that fell in price by 14.23% to reach USD2.35 followed by ordinary shares of MASHINOSTROITELNY ZAVOD (MASZ) – by 13.33% to USD182.0 and ordinary shares of AO MOSENERGO (MSNG) – by 7.22% to USD0.09
