OREANDA-NEWS On 06 October was announced, that during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the President of Turkmenistan demanded that the acquisition of the national communications satellite should be expedited. According to the president, "the satellite should accelerate the development of the country's communication systems, Internet and television, and contribute to the implementation of environmental programs, improve the methods of exploration of new deposits, as well as the successful implementation of a number of other government programs."

Deputy Prime Minister Nazarguly Shagulyev in charge of the transport and communications, who is responsible for the selection of partners, was instructed to "focus on companies with the most modern and advanced technologies in accordance with international quality standards," the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.
