Turkmenistan to Build New Road between Turkmenbashi and Avaza
OREANDA-NEWS On 06 October was announced, that a 20,4 km road will be built from the airport of Turkmenbashi to the national tourist zone Avaza by June 2011. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to this effect. According to another document, JSC Production Association "Revival" (Russia) is to design and build two, 1300 and 400 meters long, elevated bridges and improve the adjacent territory by the same deadline. The administration of Balkan province of Turkmenistan will sign a contract with the St. Petersburg company.
It should be recalled that the St. Petersburg company also entered into an agreement with the Ashgabat city administration for design and construction of facilities comprised of 7 branched roads with an overpass and 3 bridges, and 2 roads with total length of 6.8 km. Construction should start in November 2009 and facilities should be put into operation in May 2012. The implementation of the project will allow vehicles to pass along the ring road through the Turkmen capital without traffic lights and stops. According to specialists, it will alleviate traffic flow and normalize the automobile traffic at least for the next three decades.
