Nizhny Novgorod Branch of Freight One Announces First Year Results
OREANDA-NEWS. October 6, 2009. Freight One’s Nizhny Novgorod branch recently held a presentation attended by Freight One’s First Deputy General Director for Commerce and Production Igor Asaturov, Deputy Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’s Department of Transport and Communications Yevgeny Kraynov, Deputy Director of the Gorky Railway (a branch of JSC Russian Railways) Alexander Protsky, Acting Director of Freight One’s Nizhny Novgorod branch Alexander Kornyshov, as well as partners and customers of the company.
The participants were pleased with the branch’s first-year results. During the period the branch loaded and dispatched more than 100,000 railway cars, mostly tank cars (65%) and cement hoppers (27%). One hundred agreements were concluded with senders on the Gorky Railway, including JSC Mordovtsement, JSC SVET, JSC Simvol, JSC NMZhK and others. The Nizhny Novgorod branch opened for business in September 2008, at a time when the economy was entering a deep recession, but the company approved adequate anti-crisis measures, which allowed it to return to steady growth in January. In July, the branch exceeded its previous pre-crisis record, loading more than 7,000 railway cars.
Mr. Kornyshov mentioned a number of things that the branch was hoping to accomplish: increase its market share on the Gorky Railway to 25%, rebuild the Zeletsino washing and steaming station, develop freight forwarding and improve the quality of transport planning.
