OREANDA-NEWS. October 06, 2009. Krystian Pater, General Director of AB ORLEN Lietuva, and representatives of Mazeikiai District Municipality, educational, religious and public organizations signed 5 support agreements for the total value of almost one million Litas, reported the press-centre of ORLEN Lietuva.

AB ORLEN Lietuva has been among the largest sports and culture sponsors in Lithuania for a number of years already. During the recent three years, i.e. from the moment PKN ORLEN became a shareholder of the Mazeikiai company, more than 8.5 million Litas was allocated for support programs, over 3 million Litas of which – to Mazeikiai community. AB ORLEN Lietuva sponsors local programs related to culture, sports and leisure-time activities for the young. The programs are being implemented in cooperation with Mazeikiai District Municipality, public organizations and local businessmen.

By granting financial support to Mazeikiai football and basketball teams and to the Sports School, ORLEN Lietuva has, by tradition, become a sponsor for the 2009-2010 sports season of the town. The Company-granted funds will also be used for building of a roller-skate park.

The Company pays much attention to the local cultural, spiritual and social welfare. This year, AB ORLEN Lietuva acts as the main sponsor of the already-traditional, the third, International Arts Festival in Mazeikiai; it has also allotted funds for completion of finishing works on the exterior of the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Furthermore, the Company sponsors the services rendered by nurses from Mazeikiai District Committee of Lithuanian Red Cross Organization – nursing of lonely elderly citizens at their homes.

‘The funds donated by us to the local community are the money earned by our Company’s employees and managers. They are citizens of Mazeikiai town and district, i.e. members of the local community. Therefore, support to local initiatives which contribute to the improvement of the quality of life is one of our top priorities’, said Krystian Pater, General Director of AB ORLEN Lietuva.
