Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Implements Environmental Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2009. In the first half of 2009 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred over 46 mln. rubles for the implementation of the environmental campaigns, which is by 62% more than in the previous year.
Within the development programme of port infrastructure the construction and planned renovation works are being carried out as well as full scope of maintenance works of new water and waste treatment facilities on the territory of the cargo terminals. Within the reconstruction of the old warehouses and open storage grounds additional local treatment systems are created. Within 6 months of 2009 the group of companies transferred over 40 mln. rubles for these purposes.
6 mln. rubles were transferred for the measures on protection of the water and air resources and on efficient use of the resulting wastes.
Till the end of 2009 the group of the companies plans to transfer 112 mln. rubles in order to decrease hazardous effect on the environment.

Ecological division of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” monitors the quality of the surface water run-offs and air, disposal of the wastes, places of temporary storage of wastes on the regular basis. The company systematically controls the observance of standards and requirements of environmental and sanitary legislation.
In 2008 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred over 58 mln. rubles for the implementation of the environmental programme.
