OREANDA-NEWS On 05 October was announced, that Coordination Councils of customs stations on the border of the Russian Federation are established in Karelia.

On September 30 organizational meeting on creation of the Coordination Council of customs stations on the border of the Russian Federation was held in the Ministry of Economic Development of Karelia. The meeting was chaired by the representative of the Northwest territorial administration of the Russian Border Federal Agency Dmitry Ionov. Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Karelia, heads and employees of the control and supervising departments related to work of the customs stations on the state border have also taken part on the meeting.

Establishing of Coordination Councils at all customs stations is stipulated by the Russia's governmental regulation. This work is conducted by the Northwest territorial administration of the Russian Border. The basic purpose of the Councils' activity is increasing the level of economic safety of the country and creation of favorable conditions for development of foreign economic relations, and international and frontier cooperation.

Coordination Councils will analyze work of customs stations, develop offers on perfection of the regulatory base and facilities, arrangement and other issues, and also Councils will prepare offers on perfection of technological schemes, rules, and order of interaction of the supervising bodies.

At the organizational meeting its participants have voted for creation of six coordination councils in Karelia: in the international automobile customs stations of Lyttд, Suoperд and Wдrtsilд, in railway customs stations Lyttд and Suoperд and in the air customs station Petrozavodsk Airport. Participants of the meeting have approved numerical strength and membership of Coordination Councils – among members of each Council of the customs station there is one representative of the Karelian customs, the State Road-Transport Supervision Department, Bureau of the Customs of the State Border, Border Police, divisions of veterinary and fytosanitory control, as well as representative of the supreme executive body of the government of the Republic of Karelia.
