Russia to Increase Financing for ITER Project in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. October 2, 2009. In 2010 the Government of Russia will provide Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation with 4.25bln RUR for the ITER project (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) — 1.9 times as much as was planned earlier, says the draft federal budget for 2010 and 2011–2012.
They in Rosatom say that this is not Russia’s initiative but the decision of the ITER board: the Board has decided that the seven participant states should proportionally increase their financing in response to rising prices of materials, equipment and services and growing remuneration expenses.
ITER is being built in Cadarache, France.
In 2010 Russia is expected to launch national federal program “Nuclear Power Technologies of New Generation.” The program will last till 2020. Next year it will receive 3.17bln RUR in budgetary financing, of which 1.16bln RUR for applied research.
