OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2009. OBIT-Telecommunications LLC, Kazakh telecoms operator hooked up to the National Center for Internet Traffic Exchange. Mr.Alexey Karpov, Director for OBIT-Telecommunications LLC thinks that this will allow the company unloading external Internet channels and increase quality of services provided, reported the press-centre of Kazakhtelecom.

The National Center for Internet Traffic Exchange, the first in the Republic of Kazakhstan (http://www.kaz-ix.kz) functions in Almaty from October 2007. The National Center for Internet Traffic Exchange was established for realization of instructions of the Head of state and the Government on future development of local Internet services market. Legal entity has been created in organizational and legal form of Association to control the Center’s activity.

The Center allows local Internet services providers exchanging Kazakhstan traffic not using international Internet channels, by common for all hook up rules and terms pursuant to the standard peering agreements.

Today, peering interaction between networks of seven telecoms operators such as Kazakhtelecom JSC, Nursat JSC, Intelsoft LLC, Astel JSC, Basis Telecom LLC, Modern Telecomomunication Systems LLC and OBIT-Telecommunications LLC is performed within the Center. Internet traffic exchange speed reaches 15 megabit /sec.

- Such interaction is of high interest of all peering center participants, as external Internet channels are unloaded and data transfer delay inside the Kazakhstan is decreased, - thinks Mr.Erlen Akhmetov, Director for the Association "Center for Internet traffic exchange. – Thus, prime cost of the traffic is reduced and this allows to telecoms operators building own tariffs policy for end users with an accent to reducing.

Let’s remind that decision on cancellation of entrance fee for operators willing to join the Center has been accepted in 2008. Besides, at expense of optimization of the work of the Center, monthly membership fee for participants has been gradually reduced.

By words of Mr.AlexeyKarpov, Director for OBIT-Telecommunications LLC, OBIT carries out open policy of inter-operators interaction. Today OBIT participates in "peering" on hosts in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, and now in Almaty. Thus, company increases "connectivity of own network".

At first Company’s clients will win of it: the more inter-operators interfaces, the shorter the way from user’s computer to any Internet resource. Less delay, higher effectiveness, - noted Mr.Alexey Karpov.
