OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2009. Aeroflot-Don changes its company name. According to a resolution of the Board of Directors, Aeroflot-Don will receive a new name – DONAVIA JSC, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

Changing the subsidiaries’ names is a part of Aeroflot Group development strategy. Given the current trends on the air transportation market both in Russia and globally, and the necessity to more distinctively position the Aeroflot brand as a premium service company, a decision has been made to further develop the subsidiaries as independent brands. Aeroflot subsidiaries will be developing in the segments which differ from that of the parent company, using the advantages of the regional base.

Thus, DONAVIA’s strategic objective is development as the largest air carrier of the Russian South providing long-distance and regional air transport services to the population of the Southern Federal District. The company has developed, approved in Aeroflot’s Executive Board and is implementing a business plan, ensuring the company’s dynamic growth and the fullest possible satisfaction of demand for quality air services of passengers from the Southern Federal District.

DONAVIA will continue cooperation with Aeroflot performing code-sharing flights and selling transit tickets. The earlier voiced plans for air fleet replenishment, network expansion, and new technologies introduction will be implemented as scheduled.

The similar corporate procedures for name change are running in the other two subsidiaries. The company name change will not result in the parent company‘s lowering requirements to service quality and flight safety, which are defined by Aeroflot’s standards.
