The meeting was attended by Chairman of International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov, the British co-chair of the business council Lord Howell, director of the Board Michael Thomas, members of the House of Lords, an official of the Foreign Office, as well as representatives from various companies.

Lord Howell hailed the recent expansion of relations between the two countries in all areas, adding the new business council will contribute to further strengthening of trade and economic ties.

He spoke about the business enabling environment in Azerbaijan and good conditions for foreign investors.

Jahabigr Hajiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s high economic performance, achievements and favourable investment environment.

According to him, the goal of the newly established Business Council is to help expand relations between the two countries and promote Azerbaijan’s economic potential in the UK.

The participants exchanged views on project suggestions by key British firms and business entities.
