OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2009. Over 70 companies from the wood-processing and furniture-manufacturing industry displayed their goods at the tenth issue of an international specialised exhibition, Furniture, inaugurated at the Chisinau-based Moldexpo centre.
 
Companies from Germany, Israel, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, etc. exhibited furniture, equipment, materials, accessories for furniture, etc.

Attending the inauguration ceremony, acting Deputy Economics and Trade Minister Sergiu Sainciuc said that more than 100 small- and medium-sized enterprises having over 5,000 employees operate in Moldova's wood-processing and furniture-manufacturing industry. Sainciuc described this branch as one of the most profitable of the national economy, stressing that it extended by about 13 per cent over the last three years.

Sainciuc also said that 75 per cent of Moldova s furniture production is sold on the domestic market and the rest on foreign markets. He added that the volume of imported furniture exceeds the exported one. Sainciuc said that furniture worth 180 million lei (1.8 million euros) was made in the first seven months of 2009.
