Ukraine to Provide Free Access of Citizens to PET-Technologies
OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2009. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned the Ministry of Health Protection of Ukraine to elaborate a program of free access of citizens to PET-technologies used for early detection of oncologic diseases.
The Minister of Health Protection Vasyl Knyazevych announced in the course of visiting the construction of the all-Ukrainian Centre of Radiosurgery within the Feofania clinical hospital. According to the Minister, the all-Ukrainian Centre will be operating on the basis of advanced diagnostic technologies: “The most expensive technology in the world used for diagnosis of oncologic diseases will become available for everyone”. He also added since putting in exploitation the centre will have a capacity to serve 150 persons daily.
“Availability ought to be ensured in every region and I am convinced during nearest two years we will create a network of such centres in the regions,” Vasyl Knyazevych emphasized.
According to him, a state target program “Oncology” has been submitted for consideration by the Parliament and is envisaged for a period till 2016. “We have planned up to 6 billion hryvnyas in this program, including the cost of examination in such centres,” the Minister explained.
