OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2009. BIGBANK awarded the 150,000-kroon Jackpot of this summer's BIGBANK Kuldliiga (BIGBANK Gold League). The Jackpot was divided among the Olympic winner in discus throw Gerd Kanter, high jumper Anna Iljustsenko and long jumper Sirkka-Liisa Kivine.

According to the rules of BIGBANK Kuldliiga, the Jackpot is divided among those athletes who have won their event at every stage of the summer season of the BIGBANK Kuldliiga. This year the prize money would have been 300,000 kroons, but nobody won all five stages. Therefore the prize money was decreased by a half and divided among three athletes who were victorious during four stages.

During the summer season of the BIGBANK Kuldliiga in 2006 the Jackpot was 100,000 kroons and it was won by discus thrower Gerd Kanter. The Jackpot of the summer season of 2007 was divided between Gerd Kanter and Ebe Reier and the Jackpot of 2008 was won by Rene Oruman.

The BIGBANK Kergejoustiku Kuldliiga series is the largest and most reputable track and field competition series in the Baltic states.
