OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2009. Azerbaijan restores its position of cotton producer and exporter.

The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan informs that by 1st September 2009 the country exported 10,691 tons of cotton worth \\$10.23 million that makes 128.9% of the Jan-Aug 2008 index.

In 2009 Azerbaijan exports on average cotton at price of \\$957 per ton. According to data by 7th September, this year the country gathered 427,000 of cotton. In the ex-USSR times Azerbaijan harvested around 1-1.5 million tons of cotton.
