Average Living Wage in Moldova Decreases by 10,9% in 2Q
OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2009. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the reduction in size of the living wage was mainly due to the decline in prices for the foodstuffs. At the same time, in comparison with the first quarter of this year, this figure grew by 7,5%.
The maximum size of the living wage of the able-bodied population is 1,310.6 leis, including men - 1,392.1 leis. The size of the pensioners’ living wage amounted to 1,059.6 leis (85,6% average). The average living wage of children averages 1,144.5 lei per month. According to NBM, in II quarter of 2009, the monthly income per person in Moldova amounted to 1,179.6 leis.
Thus, the ratio of the average disposable income per capita and the average living wage amounted to 95,3% as compared to 87.4% at the same period of the last year. Average monthly salary in the national economy, which amounted to 2,792.5 leis in the II quarter of 2009 covers the living wage of the able-bodied population by 2.1 times (1.7 times at the same period of 2008).
The maximum ratio of salaries and the living wage of the able-bodied population was registered in financial sector - 4,5 times and minimum - in agriculture and forestry - 103,2%. As of July 2009, the average pension amounting to 775 leis allowed to cover the cost of the pensioners’ living wage by 73,1% as compared with 54.1% in the second quarter of 2008.
