Transit of Russian Gas through Transnistria Decreased by 1,5 Times
OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2009. In January-July, 2009, the volume of transit of the Russian gas through the territory of Transnistria has decreased in comparison with the same period of 2008 by 1,5 times – up to 10,1 billion cubic meter.
This was announced by the General director of "Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria" Nikolai Mitsinskii during the meeting devoted to the Day of the Transnistrian gas industry worker, noting that during the same period of the last year 15.7 billion cubic meters of gas, or 5,6 billion cubic meters more were transited through the territory of the region.
Nikolai Mitsinskii stressed that the mains served by Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria annually transit from 22 billion up to 25 billion cubic meters of the Russian natural gas. According to him, the decrease in the gas transit in the current year is due to the Russo-Ukrainian gas crisis in the early year and reduction in the consumption of the "blue fuel" by some Balkan countries. Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria provides transit of the Russian natural gas to the Balkan countries and Turkey, as well as to some regions of the Ukraine and Moldova.
