OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2009. During implementation of the agreement on state procurement of works on selection and approval of 220 kV OHTL routes and substation sites with regard to Moinak HPP power delivery project entered into between KEGOC JSC and contracting entity, the contracting entity stated that the routes of overhead transmission lines (OHTL), defined in FS, cross the territories of state national parks (SNNP) “Charyn” and “Altyn Emel” that contradicts to the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Specially Protected Natural Areas”. In this respect in accordance with the Minutes of Scientific and Technical Council of KEGOC JSC dated 17 June 2009 it was decided to correct FS of Moinak Electricity Transmission Project taking into account the revised scheme of Moinak HPP power delivery in line with which OHTL routes will not cross the territories of SNNP.

At present the contracting entity is correcting Project FS. Pursuant to the requirements of Kazakhstan environmental legislation KEGOC JSC plans to hold public hearings on 02 October 2009 based on the materials of preliminary environmental impact assessment of Moinak Electricity Transmission Project considering the revised OHTL route.
