“Yamal” Nuclear Icebreaker Comes Back to Murmansk
OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2009. “Yamal” nuclear icebreaker with the crew of North Pole 36 drift station and the specialists who helped to disembark North Pole 37 onboard is coming back to Murmansk, reports an employee of the PR Department of Atomflot FSUE.
“If the weather is good, the ship will arrive at the 92nd base today at 05:00 PM Moscow time,” the source says.
North Pole 36 finished its mission in late Aug. “Yamal” with the crew of the new North Pole 37 drift station onboard sailed out from Murmansk Aug 31 and headed to the area to the north of Wrangel Island.
The crew of North Pole 37 consists of 16 people (specialists of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute). The head of the station is Sergey Lesenkov.
