OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2009. UIA gained the lead on Ukraine’s passenger air transportation market and has been successfully holding its leading position during the summer tourist season. The number of passengers carried by UIA in 2009 has exceeded 1 million so far, considerably exceeding the competitors’ performance.

“It is worth noting that despite obvious manifestations of the crisis felt by airlines all over the world, in 2009 our company has not only continued operating all its routes but launched new destinations: Kiev – Nice, Lvov – Milan and Kiev – Abu Dhabi,” said Yuri Miroshnikov, UIA President, “UIA has strengthened its leadership on Ukraine’s airline market and started realization of its previously planned fleet upgrade program putting into operation two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft delivered from Boeing plant in Seattle.”
