IBA-Moscow Was Reckoned among Top-30 Russian Banks
OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2009. The "International Bank of Azerbaijan – Moscow" is ranked among TOP-30 Russian stress-resistant banks, which are the best in coping with the problems caused by the global financial crisis, reported the press-centre of IBA.
The rating of TOP-30 Russian stress-resistant banks has been made by the National Banking Journal based on the results of research conducted at the end of 2008 - beginning of 2009, and which is in many respects a unique one.
The results of this rating have deliberately not been tied to the measures of banks' financial performance and their place in the various popular ratings made on the basis of the volume of assets, volume of internal funds, volume of authorized capital, volumes of issued credits or opened deposit accounts. The Journal's experts used their own assessment criteria, such as: the number of positive news occasions initiated by the bank, the absence of negative news about the bank, the absence of information on staff reductions, the presence of information about new projects (lines of business activity) developed and implemented by the bank, the presence of information that the bank is building-up a medium-term and long-term development strategy, the fact that the bank as investor participates in the process of reorganization and rehabilitation.
When drawing up this rating such other factors as the availability of government stake in the bank and the rate of business diversification were also taken into consideration. A number of affiliated banks of the foreign financial and credit organizations have also been included into this rating. Yet, in this case, the information about financial status of parent company and the absence (or presence) of information that it was going to "freeze" its business in the Russian Federation or reduce the volumes of financing of its affiliated structure in Russian was also taken into consideration.
Besides "IBA-Moscow", such banks as "SberBank", VTB, "Gazprombank", "Raiffeisenbank", "URALSIB", "Uniastrum", and other banks have also been reckoned among Top-30.
