IDGC of North-West and Karelia Republic Agreed to Cooperate

They agreed today, on September 9, to work together in future. The meeting took place in Petrozavodsk. There were Alexander Kukhmay, General Director of IDGC of North-West and Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Karelia Republic. The parties discussed the long term activities directed to the increase of reliability and development of power grids headed by the regional administration as well as the topic for tariff formation for 2010.
“We need to carry the joint work during the forming of tariff for the next year – taking into account the cross-subsidization, transition to market taking into account the necessity of the grids development and the investment, as well as with the account of the falling out incomes you talk about,” said Sergey Katanandov.
The Head of the regional committee suggested forming the working group out of power engineers, representatives of state committee of power and tariff regulation and the regional ministry of the economic development. “We need to make the announcement about our joint policy in the sphere of the tariff forming for the next year as fast as possible. The longer this policy is, the better it is for you”, said Sergey Katanandov.

Alexander Kukhmay said to the Head of the Republic about the possibility of the transition to the new structure of tariff formation called RAB, directed to the creation of conditions for attraction of the investments necessary for the grid complex development.
“Tomorrow in Moscow, I’m meeting the representatives of international investment organizations which are ready to finance the projects for power grids development with the condition of investments returning on the basis of the long term tariff formation”, he said.
According to Alexander Kukhmay, they have several projects in Karelia. Their realization cannot be postponed. Among them are the activities directed to the elimination of the capacity deficiency in the cities of Sortavala and Olonets as well as in Petrozavodsk in “Drevlyanka” micro district.
“We have our own plans and forecasts. We would like to compare them with the policy and plans of the republic heads in the sphere of the electric power. Our goal is to provide the reliable and failure free power supply of the consumers, go through the winter without accidents, and provide the repairs and service of the equipment. We discussed with the Head of the Karelia republic the joint steps which would ensure the stability and the possibility of development”, said General Director of IDGC of North-West, commenting on the results of the meeting with the Head of the Karelia Republic.
