SCM Attends New Champions Summit of World Economic Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2009. SCM is represented at the Annual Meeting of New Champions by Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of International and Investor Relations. The Summit will welcome 1500 delegates from 90 countries to discuss main trends in the global economic slowdown and recovery opportunities. Growth recovery is the primary subject of the meeting. The objective for the New Champions summit and its delegates is to develop a new model of economic growth, reported the press-centre of SCM.
"The world economy has a big deal of questions and too few answers. The global crisis triggered creation of absolutely new business environment and the entire global economy will be following fundamentally new rules from now on. The world will never be the same it was before the crisis. It means that the biggest businesses must consolidate efforts to look to new ways of moving forward, towards the economic growth", said Mr Mendoza-Wilson. "SCM is an active player in this global discussion. Being the biggest national investor, we are ready to make our contribution to creating a new wave of economic growth, in particular for industrial economies like the economy of Ukraine. I am certain that the economy of Ukraine has a significant potential for growth under new conditions”.
The third Annual Meeting of New Champions also known as Summer Davos will take place on 10-12 September in Dalian (China).
In contrast to the World Economic Forum traditionally held in Davos (Switzerland), the meeting in China focuses on the most rapidly developing nations and companies – industry leaders called "new champions".
The summit will also cover: development of social protection system, green economy potential, scientific and technological progress as a factor of economic growth, etc.
"Not accidentally does the search for a new economic model share the platform with a discussion about green economy potential. I believe that in a new system of coordinates a steady growth in any sector will be practically impossible without energy and resource saving technologies. This is an absolute priority for SCM", added Mr Mendoza-Wilson.
