Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up 12.5%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2009. In January-August 2009, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 10.453.9 million tonnes of cargo (+12.5%, year-on-year), the company reports. In the 8-month period, the port handled 346 vessels (including 152 vessels with coal) and 145,889 wagons (including 123,429 wagons with coal).
In August 2009, Murmansk Commercial Seaport handled 1.309 million tonnes of cargo (+12.3%, year-on-year). Transshipment of export cargo totaled 1.278.0 million tonnes including (1.058.5 million tonnes of coal). Transshipment of coastal trade cargo amounted to 30,500 tonnes, import cargo – 500 tonnes. In August the port handled 48 vessels (including 20 vessels with coal) and unloaded 18,384 wagons (including 15,192 wagons with coal).
The company’s subsidiary Argosfera handled 25,400 tonnes of fertilizers in August.
JSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. In 2008, the port handled 14.329.183 million tonnes.
