Odessa Commercial Sea Port Decreased Throughput by 22.2%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2009. In January-August 2009, Odessa Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) handled 18.43 million tonnes (-22.2%, year-on-year), the company reports. In August the company handled 2.3 million tonnes of cargo (-15.5%, year-on-year).
In the 8-month period, the company’s container throughput fell by 43.1%, year-on-year, to 157,590 TEU including 24,200 TEU in August (-43.5%, year-on-year).
Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow to handle more than 14 million tons of dry cargoes and 14 million tons of oil products annually. In 2008, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 34.5 million tonnes of cargo.
