Turkmen Airlines Fleet Gets New Boeing
OREANDA-NEWS. On 8 September 2009 was announced, that a new Boeing-737-700 airliner landed in the Ashgabat International Airport on September 2. The plane flew all the way from Seattle (USA) via Goosebay (Canada) and Birmingham (Great Britain) to Ashgabat in 18 hours. It is the first of 3 airliners of this series to be supplied by the well-known American company according to the contract signed in accordance with the Turkmen President's decree issued last August.
The hours long flight with refueling in Canada and Great Britain was carried out by 2 crews of Turkmenhovayollary State National Service. In the nearest time, the new Boeing will be operational both on domestic and international routes.
According to the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) quoting Turkmenhovayollary State National Service (Turkmen Airlines) another 2 airliners of this series will arrive in the country in the first half of September. It will enable the Turkmen airline workers to expand much more the geography of regular international passenger transportation and increase the quantity of flights on the existing lines.
Currently, the Turkmen Airlines has four types of Boeing made planes: B-717, B-737, B-757 and Boeing -767-300 ER wide-body long flight airliner. At present, the construction of another few long distance passenger planes with increased safety and comfort level is under way in the plants of the American giant on the order of Turkmenistan.
"Even in the conditions of the world financial crisis the Turkmen state, as always, continues to purchase new airliners to meet the civil aviation needs by concluding direct contracts", the TDH reports.
