Ukraine Has no Intentions to Change Contracts with Gazprom
OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2009. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko declared Ukraine will timely pay for the Russian natural gas and has no intentions to change contracts with Russian Gazprom. She announced during briefing.
Yulia Tymoshenko noted that Ukraine has been implementing all conditions of the contacts: “There are no arguments in the contracts between Russia and Ukraine with regards to natural gas, its transportation, tariffs for transportation and gas tariffs. All the divergences and conflicts exist only in the heads of great Ukrainian politicians”.
Besides, the Prime Minister stressed that Naftogaz of Ukraine company is a financially stable structure and the whole system of natural gas supplies is stable. “And we don’t have to change any of the contracts. None even raises such a question,” she assured.
According to her, the documents that the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine is going to sign in Moscow “completely correspond to the contract and don’t need changes” or any political permissions.
„In case the need to shorten consumption lower than it is contained in the contract arises there exits preliminary agreement with the Prime Minister that it will be taken into account on the mutual basis, without any punitive measures. But it is a hypothetical possibility. Ukraine is doing nothing beyond the contracts. On the contrary, I wish to draw your attention to the good words of Mister Medvedev who said that Ukraine pays for gas on a timely basis, pays without any delays and our partnership is harmonious and predictable,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined.
