OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2009. In August, turnover of Azerbaijan Interbank Payment System (AZIPS) made USD 7.35 bn (exchange rate: AZN 0.8039 to the US dollar) versus this year’s record monthly turnover registered in March (USD 8.636 bn). As a result AZIPS turnover for Jan-August 2009 made USD 58.236 bn versus USD 89.167 bn for 2008.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) informs that in August 31,000 transactions were conducted for AZN 5.910 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 190,645 versus 36,000 transactions were conducted for AZN 6.084 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 169,000 in July,  34,000 transactions for AZN 5.492 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 161,530 in June (versus 33,000 transactions for AZN 5.96 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 180,697 in May; 36,000 transactions for AZN 5.197 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 144,361 in April 2009; 30,000 transactions for AZN 6.986 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 232,867 in March 2009; 27,000 transactions for AZN 5.003 million with average size of a transaction for AZN 1.85 million in January 2009; 28,000 transactions for AZN 3.771 million with average size of a transaction for AZN 134,679 in February 2009; 47,000 transactions for AZN 10.694 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 227,532 in December 2008. Thus, for Jan-August 2009, 257,000 payments were conducted in the total amount of AZN 46.816 bn with average size of a transaction for AZN 182,163.

In 2008, 456,000 transactions were conducted for AZN 71.423 bn versus 433,000 for AZN 38.73 bn in 2007 and 370,000 operations for AZN 23.85 bn in 2006.

So, in December 2008, quantity of transactions kept its record of 47,000 transactions for AZN 10.694 bn.  But the record on average size of a transaction (AZN 185,290) transferred to January 2009.

The system has operated since 2001, during which 342,000 transactions were fulfilled for “modest’” AZN 2.76 bn  of its turnover on 342 operations . At the same time, average of size of payment totaled only AZN  8,100.
