Baku Steel Company Stops Production
OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2009. The key producer of building bars in Azerbaijan, Baku Steel Company OJSC, has interrupted manufacture again.
The company reports that production at the plant was stopped.
“Production was halted over scheduled maintenance. Now, works to repair furnaces are being conducted at the plants ,” Baku Steel Company said. Terms of completion of repair works were not indicated.
The enterprise produces low and middle metal blocks of carbon steel and building of armature. Presently, metal blocks are manufactured in 120x120 mm and 150x150 mm of sizes with length of circle 6,000-12,000 mm. Armature is accessible in the range of diameters of 8-32 mm with length of circle of 6,000-12,000 mm.
Current production capacity totals 350,000 tons per annum. The plant as certificated on ISO 9002 (control quality system). The steel armature was certificated national Standard.
Earlier, the company indicated that it bought metal scraps at the price of USD 120 per ton and sold products at USD 530 per ton without value added tax. Monthly manufacture makes 22,000 tons.
“Available metal scrap in Azerbaijan ensures our Company’s activity for the next 10 years,” Baku Steel said.
The enterprise has a staff of 1,600 employees.
The business already halted manufacture in the first half of year.
