Bank of Russia Has no Intention to Deprive Banks
OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2009. The Bank of Russia has no intention to deprive banks of the right to accept deposits because of losses, proposing to introduce a moratorium until the end of 2010 on the compliance with requirements for the participation in the nationwide deposit insurance system, but could prohibit lending institutions from accepting deposits if they misstate financial reports.
“There are no banks right now which will be forbidden to accept private deposits. Losses as of two reporting dates are no reason for prohibition, since there could be exceptions with regard to some business expansion costs,” said director of the central bank’s department for licensing and financial rehabilitation of lending institutions Mikhail Sukhov.
