SCM Speaks at Press Conference on Education
OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2009. Interfax-Ukraine hosted a press conference Leading Ukrainian Employers Speak About Future of First-Year Students, reported the press-centre of SCM.
Top national employers including SCM and MTS as well as HR specialists discussed quality training of human resources and identified possible ways to address the issue. Big businesses believe that the hunger for quality specialists experienced by Ukrainian businesses and the employment problems faced by Ukrainian graduates will be settled only if several essential conditions are observed: a well-informed choice of profession and university by entrants, eradication of corruption in universities through introduction of international entrance practices and a deeper cooperation between universities and employers.
Natalya Yemchenko, Director of Public Relations and Communications at SCM, spoke about the HR-recruitment problems SCM is facing and the steps the company takes to bridge the gap between labour market and education: “Being one of the biggest employers in the country, we are very much interested in attracting talented young specialists. Yet we see often that ready-for-employment specialists don't come from universities: the graduates just out of universities, as a rule, can't even organize themselves.... Never mind other more complex issues".
"We realize that being a big business we have everything necessary to help the students today: we have the latest technologies and, most importantly, we have expertise, which we are ready and wish to share. For this reason SCM's senior managers will give a number of master-classes to Ukrainian students in 2009 and 2010. We are confident that this cooperation will help our students gain new and practice-based knowledge as well as help us as an employer take part in training young specialists, and thus, make a huge investment in our future", added Ms Yemchenko.
