Belarus to Start 5-Year Land Improvement Project in 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. September 01, 2009. In 2011, a five-year nation-wide land improvement project is to begin in Belarus, said President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in the course of his tour of the Gomel Region, reported the Official website president.gov.by.
The President focused on the region’s hospitality industry and prospects of its growth. Also, the President paid attention to how social standards were being implemented in rural areas and how advanced the production base in agro-towns was.
The President first toured the hospitality complex Lyaskovichi, which is part of the Pripyatsky National Park.
The Head of State was informed on the progress in the development of agro- and ecotourism in the Gomel Region, how projects in the sphere of tourism were being carried out. This region comes second in Belarus after the city of Minsk in terms of the size of its hospitality services market. But the region still has a great potential to expand this industry much further.
Another topic raised in the course of the President’s tour of Lyaskovichi was the development of social and production standards and capacities in rural areas. Alexander Lukashenko was reported on the high social standards implemented not only in the Petrikov District but also region-wide.
Following the official part of the tour, Alexander Lukashenko visited a kindergarten in the agro-town of Lyaskovichi where the President’s younger son Nikolai wanted to celebrate his fifth birthday. Nikolai was presented a birthday cake which he shared with the other children. The school received a new computer as a present from the President.
Tomorrow the Head of State will continue his tour of the Belarusian regions by visiting the Brest Region.
