OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2009. Additional investments will be used for realization of the Prokhodka Program, completion of construction of two ventilation shafts at N.P. Barakova Mine and Samsonovskaya-Zapadnaya Mine, increasing the number of underground methane drainage boreholes and other activities within the framework of health and safety program, reported the press-centre of SCM.

In addition this year Krasnodonugol is going to keep financing the works on preparation of new coal long-walls instead of old ones, modernization and reconstruction of underground transportation and stationary units as well as the works in other investments areas. In particular, this year Krasnodonugol plans to start-up approximately 10 coal-cutting tunnels.

In 2005-2008, after the company was privatized in autumn 2004, the investments in Krasnodonugol development made more than UAH 1.6bn.

"A specific feature of any mine is the necessity to regularly invest big funds to ensure the required coal volumes and observe health and safety requirements at the same time. These are two fundamental principles of business. Otherwise a coal producing company has no future", stated Aleksandr Potapenko, Krasnodonugol CEO.
