Kazakhtelecom Develops Rural Telecommunications
OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2009. Over 150 villages have been covered with wireless communication by results of first breaking project realization stages of Kazakhtelecom JSC "Rural telecommunications development with WLL CDMA technology development and upgrading" in Akmola oblast. Representatives of NDP NUR OTAN visited Otemis village of Tselingrad region, where one of the first base stations of CDMA-450 standard had been implemented in 2008, reported the press-centre of Kazakhtelecom.
The project "Rural telecommunications development and upgrading using CDMA – 450 technology" is realized on the territory of the republic since 2008. 235 CDMA-450 base stations with 122 335 subscribers installed in Kazakhstan within the period of project realization (June 2008 – June 2009).
11 CDMA-450 base stations covering 153 villages of 8 regions installed in Akmola oblast today. Total installed capacity of base stations composes 8 212 numbers, over 7 000 number are functioning.
Four of 29 switching stations are base stations of CDMA-450 wireless access in Tselinograd region. At that they cover over 40 villages. One of base stations with capacity of 700 numbers is located in Otemis village, which provides 8 neighboring settlements, total number of subscribers composes 633 numbers.
- efficiency of this technology is obvious, especially, if to consider that wireless communication organization in many villages have serious economic difficulties. On the contrary, the project CDMA allows reckoning on reliable connection to the network both urban and rural residents the nearest time, - said Mr.Askar Nurumzhanov, Director General for Akmola oblast Telecommunications Direction.
12 stations are planned to be installed in 2009 in Akmola oblast. This in its turn will allow covering wireless access 127 rural settlements in addition, and solve problem on installation of telephones in villages, where 1-2 public telephone access are available.
- It is enough to speak to rural residents, who can call to their relatives and friends, - to understand, what a strong social factor this project contains, - noted Mr.Baurzhan Ibrayev, Head for Public and Political Work of Akmola branch of NDP NUR OTAN. I think, that economic potential of the project is rather large. Telephone society is mobile society, and mobility is a condition for creativity and prosperity.

In result of project realization the deficiency in communication services in rural settlements will be removed completely.
CDMA Standard (Code Division Multiple Access) is digital, uses frequency band in a range of 450 MHz, has a technology of multi station access with code division of channels. Coverage zone of base station CDMA- 450 in rural area composes 25-35 km. One such station can serve up to 1000 subscribers.
Using WLL CDMA - 450 is gradually simplifies designing and allow widening the network with high speed. CDMA-450 wireless communication equipment is recommended by international organization for communication standardization as more perspective for third generation networks construction.
In the whole the project assumes installation of 900 stations on the territory of Kazakhstan to 2013 that will allow satisfying each rural resident needs for telecommunication services.
